Recent Cases
The following are examples of just a few recent
victories the firm has achieved in Colorado courts:
In April, 2004, the firm won an appeal reversing a prior
conviction for a domestic violence harassment charge.
The firm successfully argued that the original conviction
was obtained in violation of the client's First Amendment
right to free speech. The prior conviction was reversed
and the case was dismissed in its entirety.
In a recent sexual assault case in Boulder County, the
firm obtained a complete dismissal of all charges several
months prior to the scheduled trial date. In several
other recent sexual assault cases, the firm has
successfully negotiated reductions of charges from
felony to misdemeanor offenses, and secured plea offers
to non-sexual charges for several clients.
In December, 2003, the firm won a jury verdict of NOT
GUILTY on all charges after a four day trial in Summit
County. A high-profile case in which the client was
accused of theft and embezzlement from the local
government, the trial received extensive media coverage.
In November, 2003, the firm earned the complete dismissal
of a case involving menacing with a deadly weapon. As in
many cases, the firm was able to convince the prosecution
that insufficient evidence existed.
Recently, the firm won a dismissal of all charges in a
Possession of Drugs case, by successfully arguing that
the police had unlawfully stopped and searched the client.
Also in Boulder County, recently, the firm won
suppression of crucial identification evidence
based on violations of the client's civil rights. The
success at this hearing led to a dismissal of all charges.
The firm has handled numerous cases, including charges
of the following types: Sexual Assault, Attempted
Murder, Domestic Violence, Kidnapping, DUI,
Possession of Drugs, Assault, Theft, and Fraud.
